Tenere: A special tree in the sahara

A captivating story inspired from a true story. Tenere is a unique tree that stands alone in the heart of the Sahara. Tenere wonders who planted her in the middle of the desert, and how she ended up here, surrounded by nothing but sand. Over the years, as the heat in the desert becomes unbearable, many of Tenere’s animal friends migrate to greener pastures, leaving her feeling lonely and isolated. Tenere often imagines what it would be like to be a part of a thriving community, like the trees in Central Park in New York City. Just when all hope seems lost, something mysterious and life-changing happens to Tenere. Unlock the secrets of Tenere’s incredible journey, and discover her true purpose in “Tenere: A Special Tree in the Sahara Desert”

ABOUT TENERE

Tenere means: Desert
(in the Tuareg language)

The title and character in this book is inspired from a true story about a tree in the Sahara Desert known as The Tree of Tenere.

The Tree of Tenere is deeply rooted in the history and culture of the Tuareg people of the Sahara Desert. This solitary acacia tree stood tall and proud in the harsh desert environment and was considered a symbol of resilience and strength by the people of the region. The Tree of Tenere was not just any ordinary tree; it was a sacred site that was a gathering place for traditional ceremonies. The Tuareg people regarded it with awe and reverence, and it was seen as a source of inspiration and wonder. Its ability to tap into deep underground water sources, allowing it to survive in the desert, was seen as a testament to the power of nature and the human spirit.

ABOUT TENERE

Tenere met its end in 1973

Unfortunately, the Tree of Tenere met its end in 1973 when it was knocked down by a truck. However, its legacy lives on, as its trunk now rests in peace at the National Museum in Niamey, Niger, where visitors can pay homage to this incredible tree and its enduring story.

The Tree of Tenere is a symbol of resilience and strength that will continue to inspire generations to come. It serves as a reminder that anything is possible if we have the determination and spirit to succeed. The Tree of Tenere will always be remembered as a true sentinel of the Sahara Desert.
